Default Oil pressure light

1974 Ironhead 1000. After doing some reading I have decided I'm not going to use an oil pressure gauge but just the light. I just want to confirm this, but if the light is off while the bike is running you have oil pressure & if the oil pressure light comes on then your in trouble. Correct?

Haven't got my ride on the road yet, but as I understand it from the forum here, the light may come on at low idle but should be off as you bring the revs up. If it stays on then, you're in trouble.

Well,,, mine is always off until I turn the ignition to on, then the light comes on, stays on until I start the engine, then the light goes completely out..... not dim, not on at low idle(which is not good for motor), only off.

Now, the generator light,,, it will dim and get bright with the RPM's of the engine.
It's especially noticeable an night time.

+1 to everything Mr. Fridge says.

The only time my genny light flickers on is when it's reminding me I'm being a dumb a$$ by adjusting my idle too low.

The oil light should be off anytime the engine's running, in my experience.
