Default The monetary assessment of my S2T project

I wrote this for another thread, but we never have enough traffic here anyway, figured someone may be interested. This is the monetary story of my S2T, less gas and routine maintenance.

I paid $1000 for my S2T, plus $200 for a car hitch and $80 to rent a trailer to pick it up and $150 in gas to drive to Fountain, CO both ways from Amarillo, TX.

$1430

then paid $200 for registration and inspection

$1630

Bought an NRHS 5" round billet A/C for $209 and Ballistic Lithium battery $160

$1999

I sold off the stock turn signals, muffler, mirrors, and misc extra pieces for $500

$1499

Bought a Force Racewinder for it $150

$1649

Didn't like the racewinder, sold it for $240

$1409

Bought an S1 M/C with billet cap for $25 and sold the Nissin remote reservoir M/C for $38

$1422

Bought two stainless megaphones and some 2" OD stainless tubing for $155 to build my new muffler

$1577

Bought a D&D full system, Buell race muffler, and Y mount hanger all for $300 shipped (my custom built muffler also pictured)

$1877

D&D didn't fit, never planned on keeping the race muffler. Sold the D&D for $550, the race muffler for $60, and the Y hanger for $60

$1207

Bought 4 Sunpro gauges for $80 and a 12v acc plug for $7 and built a new dash to hold them out of an old carbon fiber hamcam I hd hanging on my wall

$1314

bought some XB9/12R mirrors from ASB for $50 and de-arched the stems

$1364

Bought a Brembo radial M/C from a Duc 999 with reservoir and ASV lever for $105, a ZX6R clutch perch for $17, and ASV clutch lever for ZX6R for $55

$1541

Sold the S1 M/C for $25

$1516

Bought some Conti Trail Attack tires for $200 and tools to change and balance them myself for $100

$1816

Bought a Banke shifter for $60 and a steering damper for $60

$1936

Bought saddlebags and fairing lowers for $250

$2186

bought wide saddlebag lids for $150

$2336

Sold the Banke shifter for $210 and the narrow saddlebags for $150

$1976

And bought a bunch of white primer and Inferno Red Metallic spray paint for $110

Edit- before I bought the Banke shifter, I also picked up a polished Mikuni HSR 42 for $225, Denso plugs for $20, and sold my stock carb to my brother for $100. With that in mind, my new total is $2231.

Here she is now. Not bad for under $2300. I've logged over 11,000 miles since I got it legal in March (bought it mid-February). I also did other stuff that didn't cost anything like polishing the front caliper and straightening and stripping the handlebars.

Thanks guys! There is actually one significant sequence I forgot - I bought a polished Mikuni HSR 42 for $225, Denso Iridium plugs for $20, and sold the stock carb to my brother for $100. So my total is actually $2231. I've been fortunate to find very good deals on eBay, craigslist, and BadWeb, which was the only way I could afford the upgrades with my wife still in school until recently (She graduated in August with her Master's in Fine Arts). I have always been a frugal person when it comes to upgrades though, and have been buying and selling bike parts to fund my bike builds since '07.

You're damn close to my total on the S3T... but I haven't done jack to it other than repack the Buell/SuperTrap muffler.
