I believe I voted on here a loooong time ago! Since then I've been into the motor twice:

The first time was My "ghetto" 1200 build. It wouldn't have been ghetto, but the local "Harley expert" Machine shop did a shit job boring and honing the stock 883 cylinders to 1200 size..
I used stock cams, '05 1200 heads and already had all the taxes paid. I did the ghetto build on a shoestring budget, I bought SE forged pistons off a dealer NIB for $50 thinking I was gonna save $$$. They were for '03 or earlier 1200 heads and wouldn't work with the late model heads I'd aquired..

So I machined them down to work with My setup.. That part was fine, but when I dropped them and the stock cylinders off @ the "machinist" He bored and honed the cylinders way oversize... I'd been bike less so long I just said screw it and put it together anyways. It had bad blowby and piston slap like a mofo, but would still out run a stock rubbermount 1200..

Second time into the motor I did the full on Hammer 1250 kit with the 30 degree dome pisfons, 560 cams a Mikuni 42 and all kinds of other goodies. Bike is plenty fast now kicks the shit outta My buddies big twins, wheelies with ease and is mega fun!

Moral of the story: Do it once, do it right, and don't attempt to do it so miserly You wind up shooting Yojrself in the foot! Lol

You could have a 1200 or 600, if you just pull one spark plug!

naw leave the plug in
two cover screws
run the 883 custom on top of the 1200
they always ask if i up'd the cc's but i say naw plano stock
there is a dead give-a-way to what it actually is if they know hd.
some even ask if it is a hd. smoked a ya-ma-make-it on a long run of open road, caught up at a red light and threw up the shield for a look and couldn't tell.
