I don't use a cane but I do sometimes carry a shooting stick. I just slot it under the seat base, tie it with a bungee and good to go. I do know someone who carries a tennis racket on a clamp bolted to the rear frame, bought it online from a bicycle shop I believe.

Cane not Club . Stay Legal put a Rubber End on it.Some folk carry nice carved sticks .Often without a rubber bottom. In the laws eye it is a club until you cover the bottom.Even old inner tube or leather with electrical tape will do.Easier simply to prevent a issue than get grief later.

I use a cane and have a folding one I keep in my saddle bags at all times. It was only $20 U.S. and the pieces are shock-corded just like a tent pole. When without saddle bags, I have been known to bungee a cane across my handle bars or to collapse it and carry it sticking out the top of my backpack. The collapsible cane works the best.
