Ive gotten pulled over twice because some large vehicle behind me was doing 45 in the 30. The radar will pick up the larger object if a condition is met (unless its laser, they pick up, target, lock, and calculate whatever they get pointed at). Easy fast explanation: Say your 100 yards from the cop, and the truck is 100 yards behind you, the radar will pick up the trucks speed until he is farther from you than you are from the cop. This is a common thing with radars, specially in small towns with older equipment. And if you can prove there was a large mass behind you inline with the radar and you, you can get out of the ticket most of the time (well, in tx you can.). (used to sit in the police academy classes that my father taught in the summers for extra cash, know lots of useless info )

Its pretty easy to get a fix on a moto with the radar, were not riding F-117s

Only other times I have been pulled over are the "routine" crap ones, checking for insurance, dot sickers, inspection. They do it around here to try and get an excuse to search you or your saddle bags for drugs and weapons.

Last time I got pulled over, the trooper was more interested in reading my T-shirt and who I rode with, than any violations I may or may not have committed. He wanted a pic for his *Profiler* notebook. F@#ker... ended up writing me a Helmut ticket that was thrown out by the judge.
I guess he didnt like it when I tole him to:
*Show me yours, I'll show you mine*

3 times. Once for an illegal pass and speeding (on my Triump Speed Triple) - cop let me off saying "I just don't wanna have to scrape any riders off the road!" Very cool.

Twice on my CBR for VERY mild speeding - got let off both times .. whew!

I voted no because the cops came upon me pushing my bike, once....

Only time I've ever had contact with police on a bike in 25 years of riding....except, of course, for the Bambi incident

But in that scenario, it was Bambi that pulled me over..... ....the cops just took a report.....

1 time only 2nd week on the bike, just practicing my technique in neighborhoods, not revving it or anything, under the speed limit, he puts his blues on and pulls me over for what, he calls it loitering, I explain that i just got my lisc and bike just out practicing technique due to a newbie at the time and he asked 20 ??? ends up following me home to make sure I am not lying or I guess a threat to the neighborhood. When I told the wife, I adlibbed and stated that I started a skirtster gang

anyone interested in joining????

Pulled over for doing 50 in a 35. No, it wasn't a residential area and I was pulled over by a MC cop.

Hell I've lost track of how many times I've been pulled over.
First time I was only 14 and got caught without a helmet in Oregon way back before they did away with the helmet law, which of course was reinstated many years ago now.
Used to be the cops around here would pull a guy over just because he was on a Harley and then run you for wants and warrants and question you about any "gang" affiliation.
That used to really piss me off but there wasn't much you could do.
Things are different now-a-days with lawyers and other cops out riding Harleys.
I've been nailed for loud pipes, speeding, one mirror when two required, headlight out,low tread on rear tire, illegal helmet, just to name a few.
Just to keep this in perspective, this is in over 35 years of riding and around 500,000 miles.

Only once. I still had my temps, which meant no night riding or highway or passengers. I was riding after dark, and of course my taillight bulb burns out. A cop sees me and tails me for about a mile before he lights me up. When he asked for my license I give it to him and he asks: "You don't have an MC endorsement?" "No." I replied, thinking I'd probably have the bike towed. "Please tell me you at LEAST have your temps?!" the cop said. Well, he wound up letting me go, and he said he would follow behind me to make sure I wouldn't get rear ended. I went and got my license the next week.
