They tried that kind of thing in Oz a while back, with some petrol stations only carrying the ethanol blend and diesel, and eventually the government had to backtrack on the mandate. Turns out that most Australians aren't keen on having their engines malfunction too early.

I do not support adding more ethanol to the fuel year round. Use corn for making white lighting, not some poor additive for gasoline! This is an attempt to placate the corn belt farmers, who are angry about trade policies, in my view.

I'm hoping it won't be too long before we don't have to worry about Ethanol in our gasoline anymore.
