Look at those price tags...18 bucks for a set of saddle bags? They really look like the Viking ones.

What we see here in Europe is that the Chinese use German names or names that sound German for their products. Because German products are usually known for quality made products, like their cars, guns, electronics etc...Or they buy old brands and (mis)uses their names. Take the Italian motorcycle brand Benelli. That sounds much better than Qianjiang ain't it? Even 'Swedish' Volvo is now made in China. What is still real?

Wow at the low prices.
I bet I could many years on most of those bags.

I've got a set of real leather ones but they're smaller than the Vikings.
And I can wash them and let them dry in any position I want and they'll stay there.
But they are more upkeep than the Vikings also.

Well, as ToeJam503 pointed out, on the VikingBags.com homepage they say:

"Welcome to Viking Bags.com. ... All Viking Bags' products are made from premium quality leather. ... "

The bags I received from them are definitely NOT leather. Unfortunately I believed the information they posted on their website. And now, after a little over a year of light but regular use, the fabric is cracked in 2 places.

When I contacted Customer Service a few days ago, their employee Mark specifically said: "none of our products are made with real leather we use viking leather which is synthetic leather"

Terminology has gotten crazy over the last few decades. You have "horsehide" leather, "cow" leather, "buffalo" leather, deerskin and goatskin are considered a leather.
Leatherette or Synthetic Leather: "Leatherette is a synthetic material designed specifically to mimic leather. ... It's typically made from natural or synthetic cloth fibers coated in PVC or polyurethane and contains no animal by-products, unlike real leather which is made from animal hide treated with chemicals."
I'm assuming the term "Leather" has changed from the actual natural material to how it looks, feels and wears. Just like "cloth" seats are all synthetic materials now, not cotton, wool or silk.

Naga? The Naga are divine, semi-divine deities, or a semi-divine race of half-human half-serpent beings that reside in the netherworld.

Skinning them is quite a job but they make a great quality leather!
