I was going to comment on this but then saw the date on cal43 post was made last year so assumed something has gone wrong somewhere on the website.

I saw your original post shanneba made a few years ago.

The guy who claims the information is not out there as to what the oil temperature should be clearly doesn't own a manual of any sought.

It is surprising how many people think their engine or oil is hot even though it's still quite a long way from 230°F.

I wondered as I looked through this thread what is the temperature at which water or condensation evaporates? Clearly at 212°F (100°C) it will be boiled off.

The highest temperature I have seen with my bike is 111°C or 231.8°F.

At the last 3500km never got more than 100°C and if cruising the bike has mostly 80°C. Riding small ruralroads at 10°C the bike get only a little more than 60°C imho the bike don´t get hot.

From my model engine days a cold engine was a sign of a rich mixture. Tuning by checking the temperature was a reasonable thing to do.

With a cold engine it was not developing full power.

I did notice my oil temperature dropped from about 205* down to 200* with a change from 185 to 190 main jet while tuning my 1250 kit.

my engine is running with 4-4,5l fuel per 100km, I don´t think that the mixture is to rich.

It's been 115+ degrees here, I cruise on the freeway at 75MPH on my Turbo 1200 and oil temps after it's fully heat soaked are 250ish, but this is rolling on it passing people making 3-4psi for short bursts. If I lower the cruise to 65-70 and baby it, 240 or so consistently. Around town and idling the oil temps actually come down to 210-220 if I'm taking it easy. 220-240 if I'm not. No oil cooler.

The 2006 typically 190F, with an oil cooler. The 2004 typically 205F without an oil cooler. This one ran from west of Phoenix to Pecos, Texas in ambient temps of 115-120F plus engine heat and reflected road heat and never ran hotter than 210F. Oh, 20-50 Mobil 1 for oil.
