Just tight up your choke plastic nut in the back of the knob; the choke will stay open completly. Go easy on the plastic nut, it's fragile.

When I changed the vacuum hose to the VOES the VOES cracked. Vacuum leak. I would check the ignition switch. Put a meter on it and do a good juggle test. You may not be getting good contact at start time. I don't think this is the problem but if you have a tach you should look at the multi pin connector behind the headlight.corrosion on the pins will cause a no voltage to the ignition module. But I would think this would show up going down the road, hot or cold. Keep looking.

I finally got to replace my ignition module and this has fixed my main issue. The bike still has issues with carb farts and lack of power (dead spot) at WOT but that is just a rejetting/tuning issue. Thanks for all of the help and i hope future people also benefit from this post. Now on to riding and tuning!

That was the most likely possibility, back in Oct. Glad you found it.
What is your present jetting?
