I don't know if any of you know the Korean car brand 'Daewoo'. Well, they made a tiny car that was named 'Matiz'. Guess what...they rebranded it to Chevrolet. So do you think real Chevy enthousiasts will think THIS is a Chevrolet?

I'd walk before I even RODE in something like that yet alone bought or drove one.
Harley is making all kinds of mistakes in an effort to stay competitive with a generation that wouldn't know a good bike if it smacked them in their silly head.

As long as H-D keeps making Sportsters & big twins, they'll stay in business here. If they can sell the Street models over seas, & maybe to the young'uns, more power (& money) to them. I'm not going to speculate as to whether it's good or bad for the image of the MOCO, but if it keeps them solvent & they keep making Sportsters, I'll say it's good & I'll continue to be a customer.

I've asked a few of the "young riders" (under 25) why they bought Sportsters instead of the "Streets". The most common answer was the sound and second, the Streets weren't "Badass" enough.

I haven't looked into the Street very much, but if the "Revolution-X" engine tells me anything, it would seem like a smaller V-Rod Revolution engine. It doesn't look like a bad bike, although I wouldn't give up my Sporty for it any time soon. I can see an advantage in places like Australia where there is a 660cc limit for new riders.

They may be a bit expensive to get in the market HD is trying to get into though, which are already saturated with Kwakas, Hondas, Yamahas, etc, who are experts at these kinds of bikes. I guess the better question is, how many new riders think "I'll get a Harley Davidson" and definitely turn to the Street. When I was starting out all I could think of was "I wouldn't mind a bike." and I bet this is more true today than when I started riding.

I come from the world of metrics, and I wouldn't have my Sportster had it not been for an accident that got my Vulcan written off, which made me think "If I'm going to replace my bike, I'll give Harley-Davidson a go."

By offering smaller displacement motorcycles for the starting biker it's easier and cheaper to outsource it nowadays to a huge motorcycle market in India.

They pulled that trick before with the Italian company Aermacchi. Remember the two-strokes: SS125, SX175, etc...etc...and the four-stroke 350.

They sold them in Blackpool around 1975ish at John Hall motorcycles. They were a bit more than Japanese bikes and there were few takers. Around 1977 they stopped selling them.

I'm not exactly a "real Chevy enthusiast" but that doesn't look anything remotely like a Chevrolet, although to be fair it's better looking than a lot of modern cars out there.
