I would remap it with a Power Vision even without making Air Cleaner or exhaust changes

Just what would be different with a 2009 Sportster Stage 1 tune?

The SE Pro SUPER Tuner stage 1 tune, (the one they just paid millions in fines to the EPA because it was "not compliant"), for a 2009 1200 Sportster has no changes to the fuel table from stock.

The "Closed Loop Bias" tables Front and Rear are identical between stock and Stage 1.

Here is the configuration shown for the Sportster Stage 1 tune for 2007-2013 1200s

Application: 2007 - 2013 Sportster 1200
Configuration: XL 1200 Stage 1

Components:
- SE Air Cleaner or Heavy Breather Kit
- Race Exhaust


How do the Stage 1 VE's compare to the stock HD tune?
Front VE table
Average -1.16% LOWER VE than stock.
Min difference -13% Maximum difference +9%

Rear VE table-
Average +0.85%
Min difference -13.5% Max difference 13.5%

The Spark tables show more ignition timing in the Stage 1 tune-
the Front averages about +4 degrees, the REAR averages +2.9 degrees (most of the added timing is from 1000 -2500 rpms at low MAPs (cruising range)
Stage 1 at Full throttle, 100 MAP, actually has LESS ignition timing from 3000 to 7500 rpms.


At 2000 rpms you will be OPEN Loop mode with Stock or Stage 1 tunes above about 25% throttle. The AFR is set to 12.5 to 1 in open loop.
At 3000 rpms it is about 30% throttle to open loop mode.
Pretty much all operation at 50% or more throttle would be at a AFR of 12.5 to 1

I would like to revive this thread and to say my opinion...

I'm sure Mo.Co. engineers have to meet EPA's... yet they aren't fools either...

my father was a mech a lifetime... and he always told me if you want paramount reliability leave the bike like she is... teams of skilled engineers have worked on her to design her specs and the manufacturer have poured in her tons of money to get eventually in production...

I don't doubt is very grateful for himself to do mods... performance ones also... on your bike... but reliability could be compromised for a bunch of HP's more... then if you have ONLY one bike and ride her every day... IMO is better to leave her alone....

my stock 2017 runs great like her is...
in third gear... before the rev limiter... you already are at 140km/h
in fourth gear you are well over that...

for me it is ok like this... maybe because i don't ride very much on highways (that's my bike's soft spot)... and in that case probabily i would have bought a 1200... or even another bike...

I know there are few that think like me... yet this is my opinion

P.S. once in production there could be nevertheless minor issues... but this is another story...
