Current 48 has 2,2 gal (8.3 L) tank. Looks nice, but makes you chained to fuel stations.
Iron's 3.3 gal (12.5 liters) tank is quite decent for daily usage.

48 has always had 2.2 gal tank, US gallons = 7.9 liters. Before swap for 3.3 I used to carry 5 L jerrycan on sissy bar. I managed once to reach gas station after 147 km, 7.1 L of fuel went in.

2.2 US gallons are 8.3 liters
cool but unuseful overhere... unless you use the bike only in urban contest... also till late 90's you had no choice on Sporties but a 2.2 gallons...
curious the choice to import in Italy the 48 equipped with a 2.2 gallons tank...
since in my Country is strictly forbidden to carry fuel on bottles or jerrycans aboard...
i have to admit also that a pumped up 1250 - 1275 it is already about to find itself squeezed even with a 12,5 liters (3.3 US gallons) Peanut...

that said my personal opinion about Sporty identities and charisma is strongly bounded with pushrods and Peanut... unthinkcable for me to dump the Peanut... i care less about liquid or air cooling... since nowadays you can hid a cooler quite eveywhere keeping fake fins on juggs

Exactly the point of been trying to make. A liquid cooled Sportie is coming whether the whiny dipshit “true” Harley fans want it or not. A well designed liquid cooled engine can absolutely evoke the same nostalgia and aesthetics of a traditional air cooled engine. The bike built AROUND the engine is what will make it look like a Sportie in the end.

It’s funny that the same people that complain about fuel injection, liquid cooling, and bikes not being “real” Harleys are the same people that won’t actually be buying a new bike any time soon. The company is trying to appease a rabid, vocal, retardedly fanatical demographic that absolutely will not be buying a new Harley.

i hope when retired to buy the new VVT Sporty
EU 5 and lot of torque... keeping pushrods and oil cooled...

unless I was still fallen with my current ride... and with a lack of a new generation of Sporties, definitely I will consider another bike... after all many brands make classic bikes EU 5 with more than 130 hp... a scandal for someone a beauty for someone else

The 3.3 peanut tank is plenty big enough for an 883.
I toured over 20 states with one, pulling a trailer behind the bike for about half of those.
After about 100 miles I want to stretch my legs anyway.
