Oil flows to the filter from the scavenge side of the pump on ironheads.
The concern is the tighter screening filters creating back pressure and hindering scavenging from the sump.

I just checked my oil level and I AM using oil. Not sure where it's going tho. It's not leaking that much that fast unless it's pushing it past the valve guide seals.
Hopefully the better venting and new pump will solve it.

Rocker base gasket this time. I'll never use the James gaskets there again. That red double bead breaks up. Tiny little pieces. Good thing I bought the updated oem ones yesterday.

I noticed the orange oem rubber, while only having 1 ridge instead of the double railroad tracks these do, are a harder, firmer rubber than these. Especially once these get hot. They're really flimsy then and more prone to doing just this. Again, going oem here too. No more James.
