Default Rich Phillips/Mother Road Customs

Recently I got a spring seat from Mother Road Customs so I could give my posterior a present, despite it being such an arse.

For those who want, calling them up is worth it if you want info, as youre very likely to end up with someone on the line who knows their shit and can advise you on their products. International and interstate callers, be advised that they aren't too good at answering the phone, so if that happens after say 4-5 missed calls shoot them an email. I'm not expecting good news when I receive my phone bill.
I'm not sure whether or not to give them the benefit of the doubt this time. Legend has it Santa is in town and he's got a shortage of presents, though I've not received such an explanation from Mother Road Customs.

Also it may be worth ordering online instead of via the phone as the online system will give you a flat shipping rate of US$29. I ordered over the phone and was slapped with US$70 shipping charge, even though the online system suggested it would cost US$29 because it was going to Australia via USPS. I was told that the $29 rate shouldn't be on the site anymore (???), and that shipping to Australia was expensive.
At least I got the other 15% discount though so I'm not complaining much about that. You learn something new everyday, even if it's the hard way.

I'm not sure what's going on with Rich Phillips. I didn't get a reply from Rich Phillips (bikersaddles@yahoo.com), but they answer emails to Mother Road Customs (motheroad@yahoo.com) faster than you could say "Help! I accidentally bought a bagger and now some fat guys disguised as plumbers want to reposess the telly while I'm in the middle of watching Ghostbusters II!"

The Mother Road Customs website is more current and actually works, so perhaps they got rid of Rich Philips and forgot to take down the site? Even the bloke I spoke to on the phone (Josh? James?) said that the Mother Road Customs number (314-972-4305) is the best to ring up on for ordering stuff.

After payment was sorted, it took them less than 2 working days to hand the order to USPS for shipment. This is quite an impressive turnaround considering they did everything by hand.

I have only had the seat for a few days so I'm going to be giving it a good test ride. There were some initial issues I expect will be resolved soon thanks to their help. Apart from the telephone thing, their customer service appears to be spot on so far.

I ordered a custom Rich Phillips seat about three years ago and couldn't have been happier (see below). Sorry to hear about your bad experience with them.

The main issue is the rarity of someone answering the phone. In 54 attempts I managed to get through to them a total of 5 times. Other than that, really their customer service was spot on. Carrie (spelling?) even went out of the way and took some photos of a seat they had in stock on a Sportster and emailed them to me so that I could try and match it up with my bike.

Maybe Rich Phillips closed down (replaced by Mother Road Customs), because the site's still up in shocking form and the latest stuff is 2015?

Other than that, on the rare moments I managed to reach them on the phone, they were very knowledgeable with their products, and went a long way to help me make a decision, which means I no longer had to refer it to the Prime Minister.
They were quite helpful in resolving my issues; I was a bit worried that they would stop responding after I sent the money because they now got my money, but I had some issues they were quick in helping me resolve.
