Yep.
Have thought about picking some up.

the "racing" additive package means shorter change intervals, which I like. Less combustion by-products building up in the oil.

If you acually research the additives used, it has a decent detergent package. One of the detergent additives actually has a protection benefit as well when it undergoes some sort of transformation. I forget exactly what it was but it was an interesting read on this additive done by an independent source.

I've spent countless hours waiting in line at propane and anhydrous terminals researching oil, additives, and especially how they relate to why VR1 stands out as such a good conventional oil in not just harley motors, but performance motors in general that take a beating like an air cooled v-twin dishes out. These motors are hard on oil by nature.

$8/quart is still a far cry better than $12 or $15 a qt. Especially when I've yet to see any evidence whatsoever these high dollar mc oils do as well as VR1. And I've spent countless hours looking for one that does. There's a few that do well but not enough to justify a cost 3X as high.
It does come in a synthetic as well and even that's cheaper than some of the ridiculously expensive mc oils but nowhere as popular and doesnt appear to do any better than the less expensive conventional which also has a higher FP than the synthetic.
A lot of people still mistake VR1 for Valvoline's NSL which is more a race oil in that it has little to no detergents. Reason being too much or the wrong detergent package can cause foaming at high rpm associated with race engines and they get the oil dumped after every race anyway. But even that has been tested at 2000 miles. I just wouldn't run it all the time.
VR1 Conventional has been tested after 5,000 miles, part of which was with temps at 300°F, virtually no wear metals and it lost a mere 3% of it's viscosity. That's amazing for a conventional. M1 v-twin thickened to a scary level under the same conditions after it cooled down.

They won't ship to CA, unfortunately. That's a great price.

O' Reilly's has VR1 conventional for $30/5 quarts. That's still not too bad for such good oil. I can get two changes from a 5qt jug.
