I had numerous bearings go out on me. Usually front. A "60k miles" part kept failing after 20k for a while. The rust is the sign... I learned as well. Glad you caught it! I never got to the bare ball bearings stage. Eeeks.

I put the standard mufflers back onto mine. I dropped the bike and scratched the slip-ons.
to my surprise, I think I like the OE jobs better. If anyone else had admitted to this I would think they were odd
