Is it possible that i fried my stator?
Hello everyone, I am a new here. HI. I bought a 79 FLH a couple of months ago, road about 30 miles then the oil pump went. So I bought the book and figured it all out, put it all back together and she ran like crap. I put her away for the night and went to work on her the next and she would turn over but not start. Also during this process i used the car to charge the battery.
Was that a boner move and what could i have fried?
How do I know that the timing set properly?

Not sure what you meant by using the car to charge the battery.
If you just boosted it, should not be an issue.
If you let the car run for a long time to charge it, you may have damaged battery due to too many amps in.
Hence trickle chargers.

Ok I'll get another one ready to go and get back to you. In the mean time do I have to take the cover back off to set the timing?
