I was actually thinking that. I have also had a lot of ground issues. I ended up replacing my ground cable and that helped a lot. I wish I could find a generic battery. Harley wants 133$ for the battery.

Battery plus sells GEL Sporty batteries for about 80 bucks and Wally world sells a lead acid standard battery. Walmart has a battery for about 40 bucks

Did you forget the spring that push on the retainer when you reinstall the derby cover; it will spin the adjustment off.

Thanks Ralph. Rejeanprimeau, I put the spring in. So crazy. I am really hoping that I can get her running. Had to ride my moms '13 deluxe last trip. Great bike but not my sporty. And it's not mine

How many miles are on your bike and is this is your first clutch?

Ralph, the bike has about 85k miles. I bought it lastly with about 69k miles. I believe it's the original clutch, but I am not positive.

Ok, I got it jump started and I now know for a fact that I need a battery. When I put it in gear it did not try to move on me at all. The clutch acted perfectly. The only concern I have is that the primary case seems to be really loud now once you start moving. It also feels like it is vibrating more. Anyone have any ideas on this?

Josh

Yes, I was able to push when in neutral prior to starting the bike. Just not when I had the clutch engaged and in gear. That's better now also. It's just quite a bit louder

Check you chain setting and see if you have enough adjustment to get to the right adjustment. I had to change my primary chain at 50K because of my riding style and the fact that I over tightened on occasion.
