Sorry for the lack of updates, I had a very busy week before I left and never had time to pull out the laptop while I was on my trip

My plan was to ride west to NM (originally it was San Diego), turn south to El Paso, and turn east to Cape Coral FL where my inlaws live. Then head to Jacksonville for the IBR Banquet. My intent was to do 4,000 miles in 4 days, something I have done several times as part of longer rides.

My plans were dashed due to lack of sleep before I left, plus a failed heated glove liner, plus a failed heated gear controller, plus my heated pants not heating, plus my blue tooth headset now powering up after the first day. I bypassed the controller and had heat to my jacket liner and had a pair of heated gloves that worked. Hit rain just west of Bristol TN that lasted past Nashville. Had some heavy fog where I had to follow a truck so I could tell where the road was, and was told there were tornados in the area of TN that I was in just west of Nashville. I guess that is why it was so windy all of a sudden? I stopped 200 miles short of my goal and got a late start on Sunday. I was having trouble staying awake and was pulling over every 30 minutes or so. I planned on stopping in Albuquerque and would likely have gotten in around 2am (GPS said midnight about 1/3 of the way) but I hit rain again 20 miles into Oklahoma. I pulled over and took a 15 minute nap and when I woke up I decided I was done and pulled the plug. I backtracked 20 miles to Ft Smith AR and got a room.

Monday I headed to Florida and my route took me right past DK Customs so I stopped in to say hello. I got into Cape Coral around 7pm Tues and then headed to Jacksonville Weds. Got home this past Sunday (March 17) with a total of 4,014 miles in 9 days, with two days off

First rally is Memorial Day weekend, followed by the Iron Butt Rally starting June 17

Wow, sounds like the electrical gremlins were very active! Good thing you called it on this one. Lack of sleep and motor vehicles is a dangerous mix.

Riding in rain is not my favorite thing to do but I HATE riding in fog!

Shakedown cruise, the next one will be a breeze!

It really wasn't that bad, just frustrating. All of the issues were relatively minor but cumulatively added up to a frustrating day or two. The biggest issue was the Bluetooth actually.

When I was in my primary a few weeks ago I noted that my primary chain had a tight spot in it so I placed an order for a new chain and sprocket. They should be in this week and I will replace them.

All primary's have a tight spot, depends how bad yours was.
The adjustment is done with the chain's tight spot at the window.
Rear belts also have a tight spot and again, adjusted at that point.

It was pretty bad, and with new parts I have not seen a tight spot to start although one does develop. This set had over 50,000 miles on it and given I have the Iron Butt Rally coming up in a few months I want to rule out all areas of potential failure. While this would not likely fail, hearing the chain slap around gets rather annoying after a few thousand miles
