Default Timing an 02

Static or dynamically , which do you prefer and do you think static timing is more accurate with the integrated ICM LED light?

I decided today to check the static and it was slightly out going off the LED compared to how I set it a few days ago with a strobe light ...

Must of only been a few degrees out tops but bike feels much smoother unless it's just me ....

My personal opinion is that the average person can do a better job by static timing. Pointing a timing light at a Harley, it's huffing and puffing and throwing oil all over the place (including in your face), you've got extraneous flashes, it's hard to see the marks, and with all that confusion going on you've got to hold the rpm correctly.

You can use one of the clear plugs, but it just makes the marks that much harder to see.

If you're careful, you can do a better job using the static method. Just my opinion. But that's the reason we recommend static timing when tuning a bike for our kits.

Cheers for reply.. My thoughts exactly , I did the timing with a strobe and a clear plug in my garage and it was difficult to see the mark(s) the light just bounced off clear plug . It may of been easier out in the daylight . Even without using plug it was quite difficult to see but apart from it puffing away at me I didn't get too much oil ..

I had to move ICM slightly so presume timing was out a few degrees , not sure how much of a difference this would make but on a quick run today it did seem smoother when holding a steady low speed ...
