The jet needle doesn’t really come into play until about 3/4 throttle (twist grip position). Scroll to the end of this guide for a chart showing when each tuning item comes into play...

So when does the main come in then? Cuz the needle comes in more like 1/4 throttle to 3/4 throttle on the hsr42.

My apologies, it looks like I misspoke. Looking at that chart again at the end of the guide the black diamond for the needle begins at 1/4 throttle opening and tapers off at 3/4 throttle. The main jet begins around 2/3 throttle opening to full open.

If I'm following what your saying correctly, yes...needle first then the locking plate which I'm sure is the retaining plate.

Re check your batt voltage.I f iremember correctly you had some batteryand/or charging issues previously? Also verify electrical connections at coil and plug wires. Do small changes one at a time.

Look for a manifold leak or leak around the manifold to carb fitment.
