Default Carb question

Good morning. I need some help with troubleshooting. I have an '86 1100 with about 10k miles on it. It has a cam, open exhaust and a screaming eagle air cleaner. I rebuilt the carb about 3 years ago because I was having all kinds of issues and it was fine since then.

Recently, when I get on the throttle more than 1/4 of the way, it coughs and sputters until I ease up. I cleanded the tank and checked the petcock for blockage/steady flow. I have pulled the carb and cleaned it making sure the jets were clear. It was already remarkably clean. I expected more varnish.

I am guessing it may be something with the accelerator pump. Could that diaphragm have gone bad in three years? I don't see any cracks.

Any other thoughts?

Have you change your intake manifold gaskets, they could be 37 years old.

I changed them 3 years ago and haven't taken the manifold off since. Do you think the VOE switch could be causing this? I haven't tested that yet.

It is possible that your problem is ignition related. When you open the throttle you are loading the motor and if the ignition is marginal, you will get misfires.
