.060" diameter hole.
I've updated the pic in post #384 with the hole dimension.
I spent half the day after I broke it down looking for my hole gauges.
Got to remember to put things away when I'm finished with them.
Then I found the smallest I have is over a tenth.

I sent a .057" drill bit into the hole and it still had a little wiggle room.
I found a .062" wire that wouldn't go thru.
I think it's safe to round to a solid .060"

I think what I would like most is a pic showing how the pushrod tubes drain to the gearcase.
If you could get a pic up showing that hole, whether in the tappet guide block or lifter bore as in the pic in post #387, we'll call it even.

Just got an Adobe Photoshop CC textbook and think I’m going to take online course in it just so I can communicate better with pictures online. Will try to take photos you ask for and get them posted. Just started a thread about V-Twin narrow glide 41mm kit and will post photos of that hopefully as well, going to order 1 and set it up with Ricor Intiminators and Progressive springs. See if I can bore my 39mm se fork brace for a boo-koo stable dual disk front-end.

I don't know your computer setup, but I just have a small camera with a memory card.
I pull the card from the camera, insert it into the computer and use Microsoft 'paint' program to resize the pics.
Paint came with the computer. 800 x 600 pixels shows up good on the forum without being too much to take in.
You have a gallery since you have a paid account.
Upload to the gallery and post the pics in your posts.

Default Factory Oil Tank Upgrade

Keith, I'm copying this information from your other thread here for fourspeed.
Trying to keep all important 86-90 information in this thread.

There are 2 different part numbers in the updated kit instructions.
This kit actually covers to 1982-1993 models. Hose routing seems to be the difference.
62472-93A and 62482-93A are now in the same package.
XL Oil Tank Kit 62482-93A is designed for installation on 1982-Early 1987 XLH models.
XL Oil Tank Kit 62472-93A is designed for installation on L1987 to 1993 XLH models.
This kit will not fit 1983-1984 XR-1000 models.

From Tech Tip #34 from this page in Sportsterpedia.
http://www.sportsterpedia.com/doku.p...cres:miscres04

RETROFIT OIL TANK
Two retrofit oil tank kits will be available in early August for earlier Sportster models.
This oil tank will retrofit to all 1982 to 1993 Sportster models, except the XR-1000.
All earlier tanks will be obsoleted and replaced with these two kits.

1982 - E1987 (62482-93) with flared brake lines
L1987-1993 (62472-93) - with banjo brake lines

So it does make the case for the difference being hose routing.
The -93A part number probably just combined the 2 kits into one for ease of ordering (and parts counter bins)

edit:
Corrected the part numbers as per Tech Tip # 37..

Default 1988 Forward Controls

I'm rebuilding an 1988 Sportster 883 and I'm looking for a set of forward controls. Is there any advice on this topic?

Here is an article in the Sportsterpedia using Biker's Choice Forwards (56129)
Fits 86-03 Sportsters.
Don't know of the quality as I'm using HD forwards.

If you can get a V-Twin Sportster only catalog 48-0499 there are several selections in available forward control sets. I am having trouble picturing them and their differences in feel as well as look on my bike. Just ordered a custom 2-1 exhaust I will get this week, they said would work with forward controls but I remember them saying "But ... something" now cant remember what it was. Will soon find out I guess Remember going to a dealer and sitting on bikes with different control systems thinking I want mid and passenger pegs as well as forward .. dont know how that will shake out with the controls that fit my done bike yet. My 2010 Harley accessory catalog shows various ones that go back to 91 only. Not sure what wont work 86-90, catalog might just not list older applications.

Trying to get my 86 883/1200 motor chug-er-lugging this year.

Looks like I may go get my cam-chest engine side case and do the 07 pump mod to it myself along with the oil filter mount return block-off and #2 cam oiler mod as well as the cam chest drain to crankcase block-off mod. I think if I also grab my new 07 pump and current oil filter mount, cam cover and oil cooler I can fit everything, do the mods and possibly make and fit new Gates or Goodridge oil lines as well as prefit the taller K+N 173C oil filter I'm planning on.

Things I will need ...

Fitting for new oil filter to cam chest entry
Hardware to mount pump(might have)
Oil line crimping kit and fittings, hose

The primary side I was planning on making a stab at getting and installing the recommended bearing upgrades from the beginning of this thread and was wondering if anyone could help me find them. I am taking a photo of my Barnett Scorpion clutch to send to Balance Masters to see if they have or can make a setup for clutch basket and engine.

Things I will need ...

Koyo NUP 1009 clutch basket bearing
NUP 207-E-TVPZ mainshaft bearing
7200 angular throwout bearing
