i've read in several places the year harley dropped buell was one of the worst years for harley in general. they had just gotten their new CEO and he and the upper guys decided that if they could sell more of the big baggers they could recoup some because the profit margins were a lot bigger on bikes like that. the buells were selling but their profit margins weren't as big compared to a roadking or the like. couple that along with there being almost no R&D costs to making the bigger baggers they decided to shed as much excess as they could so they dropped buell and sold mv agusta.


good thing buell decided to keep going with EBR. they stil make some damn good bikes but they are a lotta $$$$

In addition to that many would argue the 1200 Sporty motor was NOT fine for Buell - even Buell knew that with his quest to get the 1125.

But remember that's a decade ago now, time moves on. What might have worked a decade ago isn't enough now.

Unfortunately that is not correct. EBR went out of business some time ago. If I was Erik looking at the Street Fighter I would be pissed but he seems to be cool about his dealings with HD, he is clearly a better person than me.

Exactly. I for one would be surprised if the Street fighter would come close to the performance of Buell.
It is nicely styled but 'sports' bikes are much more than that nowadays. Time will tell.

Oddly, I find the new electric bikes more honest. Maybe it's a rare example of forward thinking at HD!
Like it or not, that is the long term future. I'm pleasantly surprised that HD is getting involved already.

wow i didn't know. they went out in jan of 17. looks like for the second time as EBR.



i was reading on the EBR forums and someone was saying the 2016+ bikes are under warranty still while the 2014 and 2015 ebr bikes are not. and that EBR is basically just a liquidation parts warehouse now with a few employees. i have no way of knowing if that's true.
