The 78 Blizzard (1978 that is...) happened the first day I was in my new house in Michigan. I had moved with my family from Philadelphia. That was another "why in the world did we move here?" moment. I got over it. Michigan is a nice place.

Please, don’t let “Coastie56” get wind of that, he’s easily distracted at the mere mention of sheep! Puts a spring into his step.

It was very strange to stand in the middle of route 128 several days after the 1978 storm. The only thing happening was front end loaders pulling cars out of packed snow.
We have a two foot or more storm every few years and it’s just an inconvenience. The blizzard of 78 hit at rush hour and cars all became stuck. Miles and miles of stuck, snow packed cars on the roads and highways.

My father was stationed at Fort Devens attached an armored unit at the time of the blizzard. A few days days into the mess a M113 roll down my street and into my driveway.
He and his commanding officer had been out for days pulling people out of the snow and bringing them to shelters with their big green Sno-Cat.
A couple of the 'Greatest Generation' just out doing what needed to be be done.
