Anyone know the weight of a frame?
was wondering if anyone has weighed the frame and swing arm of a 71-80 sportster?
i know the figure will be insanely high but im just curious.

I got a frame outside minus the swingarm in bare metal just been soda blasted, I put it on my electronic weight scales and its just under 16kilograms and there is roughly 2.2 pounds to a Kilo so my guess is somewhere around 40 pounds

16 kg = 35.2 pounds... and 35# sounds about right.
FWIW, I just weighed a '52 K model frame I was working on last week; it tipped the scales at 31.3... and they're reputed to be constructed lighter than the later IH frames built in the '60's.
(yeah, I know it's a year-old thread, but it came up on a google search for ironhead weight... which means google bots are directing people here...)

I just shipped a 75 frame and the scale at FedEx said 45lbs., no swingarm. Now a 79-80 frame is going to be a little heavier possibly because there's more to it than a 57-78 frame. I would figure probably 20 pounds maybe for the swingarm and it's hardware.
