I just installed the pointing forward K&N
Had a SE ham can on it with the blow-by collecting in there. It wasn't bad, just not ideal.
I have the vented allens -rear one I can feel on my knee "it's an ill wind that blows no one"
And I am glad not to have that stuff going back in my intake.

Didn't have oil on filter but around 30k intake gummed up and wouldn't idle down. Cleaned intake and routed breathers to external filter. As they say, why not.

Interesting thread. I had oil in my 05 air cleaner, dripping out. I did the mods recommended on here. No oil at all since, and maybe one drop out of my new oil breather hose after a 500km ride. I reckon the umbrellas should be considered a wear item, as they are thin and become stiff over many repeated heat cycle and just stop working. It was a very cheap fix, and if I start to get oil out of the line again, I'll go straight in there and change them again.I also run the tank at the middle of the dipstick.

That's how I pinpointed my rocker box gasket leak. Riding in shorts one day my knee looked like it had suntan oil on it. Looked closer at a stop light and I could see a little spritz of oil at regular intervals. I kept thinking my breathers were spewing oil and was going to change the umbrellas. Instead, I got a rocker box kit and then said WTF, why not get a Hammer 1250 kit and do the whole enchilada at once.
So glad I did. Bike is so much better as a 1250.

my old ride begun to squirt oil in the filter after 80k kms
especially on high revs
having an external breather could help... but it's not the culprit
time to change ring seals
