Steelhead760 is an unknown quantity at this point
Default bike only running on reserve even w/ full tank

So i've fixed my gen problems, my brace situation, and now to move the focus on the carb or petcock.

At about 1/2 way open on the throttle i'll get some sputtering and a lurch, it'll be so persistent that i have to pull over.

I'll flip the petcock to reserve and be able to make it home fine. light sputtering at about 1/2 but thats all.

sound like anything in particular?

It's a harley davidson CV carb from an 03'

i'm thinking it could be needing a float adjustment but that's all i can come up with.

Could be either one of these. Do you have an inline filter and the petcock screen? If so, lose one of them. Also, some aftermarket petcocks start to have flow issues, so checking flow is a good idea. Should run freely as a stream as wide as hose ID. If all that checks, remove gas cap to check for venting issue.

If all that checks, on to the carb/float.

Drain the tank, pull the petcock, check the screen, remove any debris.
Pull the petcock apart and check the rubber diverter inside for integrity. They sometimes get swollen up from years of service and/or ethanol laden fuel that we have now days......

Can you put a clear hose on the bowl drain, run it up the side of the carb, and open the drain? That should show you the gas level in the bowl with the bike upright.
