Default Changing DNS Servers

Are you having problems getting to certain sites at times and getting the dreaded server ip address could not be found dns_probe_finished_nxdomain or similar white page of death message?
If you're using a broadband ISP and have a router it's configured to use your ISPs dns servers and that's not the best option.
You can easily change this and use good public dns servers that will likely speed up your experience as well as avoid the issue of the server not being able to resolve domain names to IP addresses which is their role.
I just did this and it fixed my my issue immediately. I'm using cloudfare dns servers.
Primary 1.1.1.1
Secondary 1.0.0.1

There are other good ones like Google: 8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4 and OpenDNS: 208.67.222.222 & 208.67.220.220.
Trust me, you want to do this.
The log in info to your router can be found on the bottom of it. Different routers have different layouts but generally under the advanced tab check static dns instead if dynamic is checked and change the numbers, save and log out. That simple. To get to your router log in just type 192.168.0.1 in your address bar for most routers. Or 192.168.1.1.

I made it simple and ditched the router.
It was causing trouble. Now I just have a line in off the modem.

You can still change the dns servers for each device you use in your internet connection advanced settings or in your modem to cover them all.
My wireless router works flawlessly on both floors and close by outside. I use it for my TVs, firesticks, tablet, laptop, and cell when home too. It's a router/modem. Its actually the modem settings that get changed. It's on a fiber optic line. I have 2 dedicated phone lines running to 1 jack going to it from the pole to get the 200 mbps speed. Vdsl2 technology.

For the geek at heart, you can test the latency of DNS servers and see if you have the fastest responding and if you have the order configured correctly.

Another plus to not not using your ISPs dns servers is they can't track your usage. They also may not be as secure.

Really quite simple. Do a search on changing dns servers.

If you live in a country where some some sites are restricted, this is also a way around that.
