Ive had a fuel bottle strapped to the handle bars for a decade now. Every winter I empty into the truck. Have not had to use it yet. I know the mileage via the odometer so I know way before I run out. Harley even gave me a stupid light that come on at one gallon left.

Never, so far, touch wood. Came close a few times. Had to be easy on the throttle or the bike would want to die. Added 12.1L to my 12.5L tank.

I did put 4.47 gallons into my 4.5 gallon tank on the C.O.B.B. run several years ago. Wedge reminded me that at least the float bowl was full!

A number of times, but I 'm able to switch to reserve, so it's not a big deal. After I hit reserve I better find a station pretty quick.

I've run out once, on my first bike- a Yamaha trailie. Came awful close on the Iron once when doing a lot of 1st-2nd gear work in a very hilly & twisty area.

I did the same thing when I first got it. (forgot to turn it back after getting gas)

Now I use the trip meter and refuel around 140mi.
Sometimes it hits reserve, sometimes it doesn't.
