Sounds like you have plenty of oil pressure! I have the upgraded oil tank where the oil return is at the bottom of the tank rather than half way up, so I don't have that issue. What oil pump did you end up using Duker?

How do you block off the bypass? I just replaced the spring and ball, but still feel the flow is low at idle (i idle at 1150 to 1200rpm)

Used a 2 inch spring. It's never going to open

You cant.

Late 5 speeds dont have a bypass,I think starting in '92

The spring and ball are really just a check valve that opens at around 6 PSI and also serves as an anti-drainback.

Have you up-dated the oil pump ?

Yes. It has a brand new buell pump in it.

Unless you can find a Pro Flow pump you did all you can do !

Might try some different oil filters ?

Except the XR1200Xs, they have an oil bypass that opens at 50 psi.

I'm going to update the pump this winter to the 07 buell.
As to the bypass it opened on me due to a week spring.
When it does that you have 0 oil pressure and you roast your engine. The oil light will never come on either.
You may be confused. The 86-90 has a separate bypass in the oil filter mount. That's what I blocked
