#1, I truly honestly don't have a clue. I don't have a freaking temperature gauge on my oil tank.

Only ~6% of Sportsters get up to operating oil temperature?
Normal oil temperature is listed as 230 F in the 2013 Service manual under oil pressure testing.
~66% run cooler than "normal"

About the same as run "synthetic" oil in this poll- ~68%

Probably just down to the gauges being faulty. (Mine is, read 180-185 in boiling water) The owners don't check them so have just given the readings there gauges display. Unless............. all those lower reading owners are running synthetic oil!

According to "Doc Harley" on the U-tube, the Proper running temp on all Harleys is 210F -250F. He says that's the way they are designed.

I have adjusted my engine well rich at idle and low speed to keep oil temperature bit lower. There is not too much oil pressure with hot oil and my bike need some for Garrett turbo.

I get the same results in my 2005. I have the H-D analog thermometer/oil cap. I always check the temp when I come to a stop at the bottom of the exit ramp when getting off the interstate (70-75 mph) and I consistently have around 200 degrees. When I come to a stop after riding secondary roads (45-60 mph) I consistently have around 175 degrees. Note that I have the 883 with shorter gears so it's working harder on the interstate and that may be a factor - not sure.

Mine are about the same as yours. (2006 XL883) My highest is when the ambient temp is ~85F; then its 200-210F, riding double.
