1977 Sporster - Clutch ramp and ball assembly
Hey folks,
Pulled the engine and figured I'd spend a bit of time changing some seals and whatnot while it's out. I pulled the primary cover to change the gasket, and because my clutch cable threaded sleeve was broken in half.
While I was separating the cover from the engine I heard a clink from something falling inside and it was this copper (brass?) washer. Now looking at my service manual I'll assume this is part #10, but it clearly shows it between the cover and part #9, which is secured onto the cover somewhat permanently.
So, am I misunderstanding the diagram? If not, how did this thing fall out and how do I get it back? Or where the heck did this thing fall out of?
Thank you!

It goes between the starter shaft nut and the primary cover. Not part of the clutch mechanism. It usually falls off when removing the cover.
Not sure what manual you have but it might be on page 4-21. Part #15. Exploded view of starter shaft housing and solenoid.

Ha! Wouldn't have figured that out, being on the clutch mechanism page of the manual I was pretty certain it was part #10 of that page.
What would I do without you guys, thank you!
