When I rode with my '66, EVERYONE used Diamond chain and had clip master links. NOBODY spent any time at all working on their chain or worrying about their chain. I've seen one guy lose a master link (on a really fast shovel chopper)and it just whacked his sensational girlfriend in her sensational ass. Most guys carried a fresh master link on their Keys. You could buy Diamond chain at any farm supply house or hardware store in the country. I ran a rubber hose from the generator breather pipe back to the chain and it lubed the chain all of the time with an oil mist. If Diamond is still made in the US, your choice is clear.

American chain manufacturers have different grades and it’s important to be sure you get one with a master link applicable to high power motorcycles.
Once I lost my first master link and discovered a local chopper shop was selling farm grade chains and links I switched to Tsubaki and was always way more confident in that product.
Glad it went ok for you.
Interesting note there Bruce. Makes a lot of sense.
