It happens to us here reading posts.
Your reading too fast or just skimming for certain details and miss details in the post.

edit:
I've gone back many times to find I missed details that I didn't read to begin with.

That's my new word for the day. Saccadic masking.
Great word for Halloween.
I can say it just a certain way to make it sound evil.

Sarccadic masking, hmmm, and all this time I thought it was beacause I’d been dropped on my head one too many times!

Ride defensively - because no one is going to look out for you...

I try to avoid cities of any size because you can't be looking 360° at the same time -- there are far too many ways to get run over to be comfortable riding there...

When approaching an intersection with cross traffic, or someone waiting to turn across my lane, just swerve slightly in your lane to cause your headlight to flash across their vision... do this especially if you see them look in your direction...

Stay Safe - It's much better than recovery...

I do this all the time now. It's not slight at all though. I do big obnoxious weaves across most of my lane when approaching any sort of intersection with traffic. The more attention grabbing (and unpredictable) you are to them, the less likely they are to pull out in front of you.

Of course, I ride alone. I feel like groups need much less obnoxious attention grabbing practices. They're more car sized to begin with. Not free from stupid people by any means, but less prone to it from what I see.

So directing your attention to the ball & how many times it is passed, you will not see the man in a gorilla suit that walks thru the middle of the ball passers. I can tell you that I didn't see the gorilla. Then they tell you to go back & watch it again. You will definitely see the gorilla the 2nd time you watch it. The fact that you are not specifically looking for the gorilla means you will probly miss it. Just like the car drivers who are not specifically looking for motorcycles. Made me realize that they really didn't see me. Hence, my LED headlight with a modulator. It makes even the most brain dead drivers see me. I still ride like I don't expect them to see me, tho.
I provided a link to the invisible gorilla here.
