On an '01 the pos. battery cable and the green starter relay wire go to the same point on the starter. A smaller black wire (on the starter) goes to the Main Circuit Breaker and 2 red wires lead out the other side to the Voltage regulator (connecting to a black wire) and the ign. terminal on the Ignition Switch. {Clymer's Manual Wiring Diagrams 1999-2002 all models except 1200 S}

THAT IS NOT CORRECT...

THEY DO NOT GO TO THE SAME POINT --- They do go to the same device, that is, they both go to the Starter Solenoid, BUT NOT THE SAME POINT on the Starter Solenoid ---- BIG DIFFERENCE...

Please don't confuse the Starter Solenoid & the Starter Motor - Also don't confuse the HIGH CURRENT contact post on the Solenoid with the lower current connector (on the solenoid) which comes from the Starter Relay...

The Battery cable goes to the High Current Post on the Starter Solenoid - The GREEN Starter Relay wire goes to the coil of the Starter Solenoid...
(The other side of the High Current Contacts, in the solenoid, goes to the actual Starter Motor - This is a very short, heavy duty, BLACK wire between the solenoid and the motor)...

The smaller wire to the Main CB/Fuse is taken from the Battery wire (located at the input side of the High Current Contacts) at the Starter Solenoid in order to provide direct battery power to the Main CB/Fuse...

Sorry about that. The diagram makes it look like it's on the same point, but you're right, it's the same area.

It's not long enough, but I could always make a wire. It's worked fine where it is for 29 years so I'm good.

Yep. My 01 has the wire from the solenoid to the circuit breaker. Little pain to get to.
