Default Can't get the free wiring diagram from HD

I have tried several times to get the free wiring diagram from HD, I have set up an account as a independent and it still keeps telling me I need a subscription. I am a little slow, can someone guide me on the exact steps or possibly share the 79 XLS 1000 diagram? Thanks

i had no issues except the download part. the image is nearly impossible to read/print
i have a account but you do not need it
after location, and on the dealer/independant options, just go to search bar and type in what your model is
https://serviceinfo.harley-davidson.com/sip/index

https://serviceinfo.harley-davidson....inContent=true

appear none in the page, see if i have it in the library, if so, i'll pm you, might be a day or so

Thanks Bustert,

I was able to view the owner's manual from the second link you shared. I am not sure why mine wasn't working but it would not show the same info. As for the wiring diagram, are we talking about the wiring diagram on pg. 66 of the owner's manual or is there something else that I am missing. There is not dedicated electrical section or diagram. Just what is in the owner's manual. Thanks again. Mike

yea, used to be hd included everything but now you have to get the electrical separate. more money for them and makes for smaller manuals.
fixing to take a look-see, been building a new shop and been welding, seems like i would learn being 68, but hey, gotta have my room
seem like there is some void years 79>85. will see what comes up elsewhere.

Thanks Big Al,
That's a lot of great information. I didn't see the 79 specifically labeled so I downloaded the 70-03, all the rest I cannot download or open. I see a 78 XL, but no 79-80 and I do not see a parts manual. I do appreciate the wiring diagram, that's the best one i've seen. Where did that come from? It is not the same one in the 1970-2003 manual in your downloads.

The wiring diagram is from the factory H-D 1979-1985 XL/XR service manual, part number 99484-85, on pdf.
I'll try to get a link for you...

Thanks Big Al, that's awesome, happy 4th of July to you and yours. I can't wait to get started on this bike. Still making room and organizing the garage and finishing up my girl's 87 Jeep. I'd like to have that running in the next week or two, then it's time for the XL. The local indie shop a mile away has a ton of OEM parts to help me out, I made a list and he's digging through it all. Thanks again. Mike
