Glad to help out - Good Luck with the wiring.

I chose to put my front TS lights on the lower triple tree - You can check out my build info at My Motorcycle Chronicles...

Thanks! And that's an awesome build. Definitely an eye catcher. Those rocker boxes look killer!

UPDATE...

I got the turn signals roughed in and they work great. But I'm having an issue with the tail light. I have the 3 wires coming from the bike (tail light power, brake light power, and ground). I have the ground connected to one of the license plate bracket bolts under the fender, and the other two wires connected to the red and black wires from the new tail light.

If I connect blue to the black tail light wire, and red/yellow to the red tail light wire, then the brake light comes on in both accessory and ignition key positions (no running light). If I flip the wires I get the running light in accessory position and full brake light in ignition position. But in BOTH situations pressing the brake does nothing. I haven't installed the front brake yet so I was only able to check it with the rear brake pedal.

Any advice?

This is the correct wiring & functioning...

BLUE Wire (HD) to RED Wire on Taillight for Running Light
RED/Yellow (HD) to BLACK Wire on Taillight for Brake Light
Frame (or BLACK Wire (HD) -or- both) to Frame of Taillight for Grounding

The reason the Brake Light comes on is because the front brake switch is a Normally Closed Switch... When installed on the handlebar, the brake lever (NOT PULLED) holds the switch OPEN which prevents the Brake Light from coming on... In that case, when the Rear Lever is pressed, it will close it's switch and cause the brake light to come on... -OR- when the front brake lever is pulled, the switch will return to Normally Closed and cause the brake light to come on...

Since you don't have the front brake installed - that switch is ON...

See the Sportsterpedia section on the brake lights here:

Thanks! That helped a lot. I was pulling my hair out over here. I wasn’t even thinking of the front brake switch. I wired it all back up and pushed in the switch at the control housing, brake light works!

This has been a huge learning project for me. I sincerely appreciate the help. When this beast is done I’ll post some pics!

Here are a couple pics from the day I picked 'er up. She was a bit of a basket case but I got her for cheap ($1400 done deal). The 1200 conversion kit on it was worth almost half that.

Below are some more recent pics. I still have some work left but I've done a lot already. I finished the 1200 conversion that the previous owner started. He was going to put the 883 heads back on but I ordered matching 1200 heads instead. I replaced the carb, air cleaner, oil filter, risers, speedo back plate, handlebar top clamp, fuel line, voes tube, fuel overflow tube and battery. I picked up a retro style seat, relocated the key and coil and cleaned up the wiring harness. The pipes didn't look that great so I wrapped them. I added a battery cover and brackets for saddlebags after these pics were taken. I'm working on all the lights right now and then I'm going to install a springer front brake. I also plan on adding a sissy bar and tank badges at some point.

I also need to address the welding job on the frame. The previous owner had his "buddy who is a certified welder" stretch the frame. It looks like crap and it's rusting at the welds. I talked to a welding shop here in town that does some custom motorcycle work. They said they can cut out those sections and weld it up right.

Ignore the mess in the garage. It's way overdue for a spring cleaning. And the cardboard makes it look like it has a bad oil leak, but most of that is from a sloppy oil change on my part.

Thanks! It's looking sharp. I'll post some better pics of the build when I'm done.
