I'm pretty sure that the butterfly actually helps with the performance of the pipe when wide open. I could be wrong, though, but I think it acts like a lollipop to help with the reversion that plagues most all 2-1 pipes.

I regret not buying a set , I keep hoping they will bring them back or I will find a used set in good condition for sale.

Yeah but the idea is to be able to reproduce it as similar as possible without getting hit with a law suit.

They only have the authority to sue you if you sell them as your own design. If someone blueprints a set then it wouldn't be illegal to produce one for personal use from a blueprint... Paying someone to bend and weld is different from someone selling you a copied exhaust design as their own....

That's what people are asking for though, someone to produce an exact copy of the defender and sell it.

We aren't talking about having it built on a piece by piece basis. Anyone in this thread could get a blueprint for the pipe from Someone willing to take the time to measure it out and have a fab guy build one but then your looking at custom built pipe, which carries a custom built price. The only way to keep the price reasonable is to mass produce it.

I have wondered this same thing, I mean one small tweak to the design and its not copyright infringement right? like maybe change how the collector looks and ex out the butterfly?

Tweak it some for ground clearance cornering, a tad bit of upsweep from the collector back and stainless. Oh yeah, fits C’s with forwards.
Shut up and take my money!
