Figured there'd be a hack for getting the clutch parts out, found this. https://youtu.be/zQnlt8twX3k

Think, I'll open it up and see what condition things are in. If it looks like the 6 steel plates and 8 friction plates are okay, I'll grab that friction plate from Bluto (saves me thirty) and buy two steel plates from Ronnie's. Gotta get some other stuff too.

If i don't like the squeal, I'll do up the xr1200 mod down the road.

Btw, If someone has a 1200, 04+, stock diaphragm spring they wanna pass along, I'm interested.

Thanks

There is no need to mess with hacks when the correct tool is available.

I have the same one. Of course a rip-off but who is going to pay over £100 for the one from Jim's?

LOTS of designs for DIY clutch spring compressors here and on the web, this is what I came up with using an ABS pipe cap and other stuff from the hardware store...however I did need to add a piece of drilled steel (not shown) across the top for more stiffness and it worked OK.

I have 2 years and 45,000 miles on mine and no issues at all
