Mine bike was used and came with the sissy bar. I rarely ride anyone, but it's really handy for tying stuff to. Luggage, cooler, you name it. I wouldn't be without it. I think it looks good too.

If anybody is interested in an inexpensive sissy bar of medium to low quality, here's one on Amazon for like 30 bucks. It fits my solid mount 883r.

The hardware is crappy, the welds are crappy, and the pad is shitty. For what I want it for (strapping an occasional bag) it'll work fine. I wrapped the spots on the bar where the holes are drilled for the pad. I also upgraded the hardware to stainless.

For the first year I rode upright, and had a big fat sundowner seat on it for commuting. in 09 Harley had the sportster buy back and the boys at Ft Lewis were selling parts a 10 on the dollar.
One guy had the detachable sissy bar with storage rack. It looked like....
But it carried my lunch box, and rain gear. In 2010 I went full cafe cruiser, so the seat and sissy bar got sold to a gent in West Seattle.

With the rear fender bobbed, and a Saddlemen cafe seat. No more need for the sissy bar. I carry me lunch in a one strap sling pack, and bungee the rain gear to the hump on the back of the seat.

Handy for luggage, not not so handy for swinging a leg over
