No E.R., as a former E.R. Medic I try to handle stuff like that on my own. Knife jumped, caught the inside edge of my thumb, sliced halfway through it and the nail before striking bone and jumping out. Bled like the proverbial stuck pig, how appropriate, bleeder was squirting so I had to wrap a rubberbend around the base of the thumb, poured some peroxide solution over and through it then a little “Patron” for good measure. Filled the chasm with neosporin, got a graze pad on it then “stretchy” gauze to hold it in place and a final wrap of painters tape in case it banged something during the night. Redressed it this morning, no red streaks, closed the chasm applied a telfa pad, non stick, and rewrapped. Didn’t want to try sterilizing my sewing kit at this time so will take it a day at a time.
it for now. It doesn’t like any pressure of any kind so will take it easy for a couple days. Hope everyone enjoyed their holiday, mine is getting better!

Trace, give the Dunlop Elite III’s a look over, since losing the availability of my beloved Avon Venoms and trying a few different ones, these have been remarkable.

My remaining superglue had hardened up, ironically the surgical reconstruction of my shoulder the final closure was with an adhesive, no suture nor staple marks left behind.

Remarkable is certainly a strong recommendation. I hadn't really considered the Elites as I'd thought they were more geared toward high mileage than great performance... it seems I've misinterpreted their pitch
I was actually hoping the new Avon Cobra Chrome would arrive down under in time for me to try this time, but it seems not to be the case. So now looking at several different alternatives...

I ran the Cobra on Orange one winter, held the road well and got about 12,000 out of the rear. Didn’t stick like my old Venoms, nothing has, but wet or dry it was one of the better ones. Inherited a set of Elites on Black Beauty, got near 19,000 on them and the confidence factor was up there near the Venoms. Surprised me as I’ve never gotten mileage like that before, you would think the two don’t go hand in hand. Put a second set on after that got 18,000 but changed them out early prior to the C.O.B.B. Run last year. I’ll be staying with them until they quit making them. Even tried Commanders but while the were giving good mileage I found they broke loose too easiely and without much if any warning in the wet. Brian runs the Elite 4’s and is very happy and I looked at them before returning from Florida a couple years ago, but didn’t like the continuous center groove on the front. My experience with that style is more squirming on rain grooves and bridge grating. I think Brian confirmed that later on and might be running an Elite 3 on the front just now?

Over the weekend, My youngest daughter got a speeding ticket. She was also driving without her license. (I grounded her for not having her license, not the speeding part). Then my middle child, at the hand gestures of another driver, pulled out into traffic anf got her door smashed in. Today, my oldest daughter ran into a guy in front of her because she was paying more attention to the traffic than if the guy ahead of her was pulling out. All kids are unhurt, but I called the wife and told her to Uber home. Geez.

If you are looking for sticky try the Shinko 777's
Closest I've found to the old Venoms. Won't last long but the price is right.
Quality S. Korea factory not Chinese crap.
Yokohama either spun off or sold their MC tire division to Shinko.

Working in the shop today, getting real busy now.
But I am not bleeding yet so I can't be working that hard...
