Put the saddle bags on, and fired it up. No unusual noises!!!
Just a thought, did you not fire it up before draining the oil? I ask only because you may have had a load of "sumped" oil that would stay until you fired it up.
Possibly overfilled now?

I took the breather bolts of and used some CURIL-T (non-hardening seal) on the bolts and between the heads and the filterbox. Thát's were the excessive oil came from and not from the filter. No more messy oil tank, heads and a clean engine again.

I found this solution on this forum by someone who wrote that the breather bolts expand differently than the material the heads are made of. That causes the oil getting through. I can't remember who it was but anyway, if it was you: Thanks for that!

I rode it 10 miles before draining the oil

And I checked after it was run and had to add about 1/3 a quart to get it where I like which is in the bottom 1/3 of the dipstick

Confirmed cutting a fork tube in half is just as hard to do as expected.

A little too late to take the bigger tools to it without neighbors wondering what all the noise is, so will have to go at it again tomorrow. I'm getting the guts out of these busted forks one way or another...

The end result of my fork dissection. Got my springs, dampers, intiminators, etc out after some fighting with it. Everything seized up in the right slider, so i gave up on getting everything out of there. Someone else probably could, but I don’t care enough to save it. There’s about 4” of tube stuck in there now, and no getting to the stop cup for the damper rod, but I already had new sliders and tubes on the way, and that little cup is like $6. I’m calling it a flawed victory.

Open night at Liverpool clubhouse. Went the scenic route through Preston, Tarleton, Southport, Formby. Love the ride through the Ainsdale sandhills. St Anne's & Lytham are a nightmare with traffic due to Easter holiday & roadworks so missed them out. Don't much ride when dark but love the night ride back through the deserted streets & the sandhills

I rode 49 miles today and got home just before it started to rain. I passed 5,000 on the odometer.
