If all you want is a kill switch Morris ha a neat little one that goes on the ground screw out of the Magneto. Dan't get more simple or robust than that.

Well, he throws them in for free when you buy a new mag !

Or, maybe look at the design and make one for yourself.

(Actually, it's the same design that was used on Briggs and Stratton lawnmowers when I was a kid, 60 years ago.)

Thanks, Ferrous Head. Against my better sensibilities, I ended up purchasing a kill-switch button for the magneto. It's my birthday in a couple weeks, so I figured I'd treat myself.

At some point you may want to kill the engine when it is running away and the throttle cable gets jammed or bent. Hitting the kill button at 4-5,000 rpm does nothing. You will wind up grabbing plug wires and yanking or in my case shoving your knee over the air horn. My situation was with a 77" stroker on a 25 mph country road. I suppose I could have just pulled in the clutch and let it blow, but that didn't seem fair to me. Scared the living shit out of me.

Re stealing Sportsters: I used a large chain and an unpickable US Army lock. The chain went around the front motor mounts when not in use. The only sure way to keep it from getting stolen is to keep an eye on it. "Where do you live and when won't you be home?" In the old days for every set of new cases a Sportster was stolen. I don't think that these stupid drones today would even think about stealing a headache. My Neighbor leaves his Big twin Evo out in his front yard covered with a tarp. It's just too much trouble to steal. They steal catalytic converters right out in front of people's houses. Our lovable illegal assholes. There are 15M of these "Guests of the Democrats" in Calif. They were slash and burn subsistence farmers riding a donkey in Oaxaca and now they steal from us every night.

We used to have a bunch of Aussies who would come over and trade Jaguar rear ends for 57 Chevys. They'd stay with Jim my old car/bike guy and we would marvel about how a human being could drink that much and still function. We were fair hands at drinking too and it naturally went together: motorcycles and drunk. One question: Are Beef Bayonet and Pork Sword the same thing?
