Not easy getting images of small parts like this when your blind. Nut I am sure you can see what I mean.





Two things become apparant when I look at these pics.

Your cams have a very narrow "narrow" lobe compared to mine. Mine all have much wider open points. And this is sometimes a problem for me in actually picking the "narrow" lobe when I am doing my ignition timing.

I use Morris Magnetos and they have the best points and condensors you can get. But I really need to remember to put a drop of paint on my narrow lobes when I work them out.

Anyway, the second point is the timing points on your cam compared to mine is defiantly different.

What you need is a known good cam now to compare your with another one.

But I am sure your going to find a difference that will account for your timing issue.

Decreasing the width of the lobes is fine. But the opening point still needs to be at the same point.
With my lobes I can see the opening point is nowhere near the same as yours. And it's the opening point that counts.

If you look at the "narrow" lobe (the second pic) you can see my points would start opening at a point that is quite a few degrees before the beginning of the locating slot.

Now have a look at where your narrow lobe is opening the points in relation to that slot.

Yep, definitely moving the break point in the right direction. That cam would probably work here.

Find someone close by (if you can) that has a known good spare. Take yours for comparison.

But everything else checks out. "When you eliminate whatever is not possible whatever is left must be true."
