Default Oil leak

So, know this may be silly but any idea where this transmission oil might be coming from? I am getting a little oil out of a solid (return I think) line by a pushrod pooling at the bottom. I was thinking about seeing if the seal was bad there but curious if this bit looked like something else to any of the experts here.

I suspect your going to find it's the main shaft seal or counter shaft bearing that's leaking.
You'll need to pull the sprocket cover to check.

Thanks. Any idea what would cause the bearing to do that? Also, any other symptoms I should’ve concerned about? I’m reticent to work on it right away.

in that thread it wasn't the bearing it was the gasket.a worn bearing would allow the mainshaft to have excessive movement.

My bearing was ruined (twice) from an issue with a breach in the oil trough at the ceiling of the trans cavity. A leak like the one in your pic was my first clue. Second clue was I could move the main shaft sprocket a whole lot in any direction. At the end of fixing all of that, I copied the m.s. seal gasket onto a sheet of cork gasket material, cut it out and installed it with permatex copper gasket sealant making sure to not clog up the oiling hole. Hasn’t leaked from there since.

Seal/gasket on the nain shaft is no bug deal. I have run across a coupe engines that leaked around the counter shaft bearing and seen a few "slop on the goop" fixes when that pops up. You don't need to pull the gearbox if it's just the main shaft seal or gasket.

So I should pull the cover and see if I can move the sprocket. If not, I need to pull it and the retainer and replace the seal? A simpler slop method would be great if I could get through the next two months or so without damaging anything.

You will have to pull the sprocket cover and m.s. sprocket to tend to the seal anyway. Not a big deal.
