Never heard of a cork O-rings.
Are the tubes holding oil?
If so, see this piece in the Sportsterpedia: Restricted Tappet Guide Drain Channel

Cork seals are used on earlier models. O-rings are used in the late models. The terminology is used incorrectly.
Post some pics of your leak area. I was unable to view your pic in the earlier post (shows 404??). Perhaps your leak is coming from upper end oil sleeve? Or tappet block?

What was the material? The ones I installed on mine were brown. I'm assuming they are Viton by the color.

Not a very clear pic, but looks like debris in the block near the o-ring area. Get the proper o-rings, pull the pushrod and remove the block itself. Thouroughly clean the area and reassemble. Verify that you in fact do have the o-ring style tube prior to getting the o-rings. Also be certain the oil is not migrating from the fitting feeding the top end directly next to it. It looks like the feed tube may have been comprimised at one time allowing oil to migrate past the sealing sleeve blowing back onto the tappet block.

Per the SP page, some guides have one channel, some two, and there are some that have a spiral.
The groove in the SP pic (and your second link) is stopped up - can't see thru the oil.
Here is a Jims 1 groove tappet block.
