Default wheel truing stand

My PO put a brand spanking new Dunlop Harley tire on a severely bent rim. I'm getting a new rim and spokes for it.

What stand do you guys recommend?

I use my old KHK swingarm in a vise, with my magnetic indicator holder on the flat.

harbor freight has a stand that if beefed up will work, originally for balancing.
what i do is a rod or long bolt for the axle and pvc pipe as spacers and a good vise. you will need two indicators or old school feelers. minimize axle play and you are good to go.

Thanks guys I do have a couple of jack stands. PVC pipe spacers is a good idea.

Growing up I was coasting downhill with one of the neighborhood kids and the front wheel on his brand-new Schwinn collapsed from loose spokes. The kid got all effed up. So I have a lot of fear and respect for spoke wheels

I like to true them in the forks or swingarm. Holds it solid and makes it easy to keep the rim in the right place laterally.
