Default rode a B.T for the first time

my buddy let me borrow his 95 roadking. i never knew a bike could ride so smooth... very fun to ride. compaired to my ironhead.. its a real different feel for the ride.. ... while straight line its nicer the ironhead will run circles around it turning and cornering..

taking it on a nice 100mile ride this weekend. should be fun.

Wait until you rent a new B.T. for a day. I rode my friends original 79xl for about 40minutes while on a road trip, I had to give it back. I was to spoiled with my 04 sporty. That said I now also own a 06 Heritage softail, A great bike for riding all around, but the sportster still will out perform it in general.

For acceleration, my old Sporty still owns. I know this because a friend of mine now has it, and he guns it every time we go out. Of course, I still refer to it as "my Shelly" (her name), rather than "his bike". He just doesn't love her as much as I did. Around town, she was great; I miss her. She's got the cornering and acceleration that a BT just can't touch. Plus, for as many years as I rode her with the bars, those ape hangers still look badass!

For longer cruising, though, my BT is definitely the way to go. Fairings, rubber mounted engine, floor boards and an air system (mine's a cop bike), so I not only get air shocks, but an air seat, too. D*mn, is it comfy! I thought I was good at sitting on my butt all day before, but this takes it to a whole new level. The big problem is that it's too comfy. With the Sporty, I could roughly gauge my speed by the wind resistance. With the windshield and fairing combined with the engine vibration dampening, I can cruise at 90-100mph all day long (our fastest road here is 60) and not even notice. And because it's still cop colours, people think I'm a cop and get out of my way, so there isn't even traffic to slow me down!

Each one has its ups and downs. Admittedly, I think I'm staying with the Dark Side; I do more long rides than anything, so it makes sense. If I had the cash, I'd have definitely hung onto the Sporty as well, for two reasons. One, to ride her, and two, seeing my friend ride her is like watching your best friend date your ex-girlfriend. It just ain't right!

I rode a fatboy back in march, it was very comfy compared to the sporty and really not that much bigger as I would have expected it to be.

maybe some day I'll get a 2nd bike but my sporty isn't going anywhere

yup

only 2 HD's I gara are the Sporty 12's and the Road Glide 1450's

the avg. BT makes no sense to me for practicality or enjoyment of machine for it's intended function - but they do look nice setting there, it's the riding of em that shows their limitations

One of them thought I was one of them and waved at me as I was going through a speed trap on the freeway, doing 95mph in a 60 zone. Other than that, and when I got a ticket for parking in a no parking zone (it was a parking zone when I first got there...three hours earlier), I've pretty much kept off of their radar...pun intended.
