I could be wrong, but that chain was made to run constantly thru an oil bath. The occasion it needs to be oiled is always. Maybe you could rig up a total loss oiler?

Yes,Primary chain is a duplex vs.A roller chain like the rear...History shows they last approx 5000 miles running open,Rain being the culprit of the longevity.At $20 bucks a pop for a replacement I consider a new chain every season as a consumable.

Default Divorced Ironhead Tranny

What would you guys recommend as the best/easiest big twin tranny to use with a divorced ironhead engine. I am in the early stages of ironhead with the tranny hacked off. Thanks

A 4 speed kicker from a big twin non rubermount would be the most compact size-wize next would be a softtail 5 speed up to 1999 before the twincam motors[HD bolted the trans to the motor as a "Unit"] The softtail 5 speeds have better spline clutch basket shafts and superior electric starters.My build I used a 2002 Twincam Softtail 5 speed trans and cut the bolt flange off the trans case and got creative with the fastening system to bolt it to the adjustable trans plate that through bolts to the frame.I do have a Kicker Kit for this trans that will be installed @ final assembly.

Still making progress,,,Another set of bars and re-did the rear brake pedal correctly to "Pull" the brake shoe lever instead of the longer push pedal I had....



Here is a shot with the "Rabbit Ear" bars I made to try for the feel.

Liking the new bars. I know that you've done a few custom iterations, but personally prefer the more traditional curve...runs a cleaner line from the forks which are a focal point. Awesome build.
